I have only JUST found out about these plans by picking up a non-descript leaflet in Tesco. To be honest even the leaflets are misleading. It appears at a glance to be a community spirit notion rather than a plan to transform Uckfield.
It sounds as if the meetings that where held were inadequate.
How has it all got this far?
Iam mostly against the loss of the play-park, the loss of a decent sized community area. (Where would we host our town events?)
The roads that will cut up the town. The many, many crossing on the high street and at he very top of the list is our town revolving around Tescos.
I hate every last bit of the plan that I can work out from the leaflet. I cannot really see the plan clearly due to my eyesight.
I have just been offered a house by the council right in the middle of the town. I have been waiting many years for myself and my daughter to be moved out of temporary accommodation.
It appears we will not only lose our garden- we will lose our alternative- Luxford field. But hey! it looks as though she will have plenty of traffic to play with.
Is there any action groups that have been formed? Where can I join one?
I think this community is strong enough to stand up to this.
We do not want our town to be controlled by Tesco do we? I haven't met a person in this area who wants to fragment society any further than it is. I do hope this turns into the project that unites the town and gives Tesco a poke in the eye.
I would be very happy to help disabled/elderly/housebound/working parents with their shopping trips and I am not the only one. The load could be lightened we could take care of each other instead of being dictated to by the already too powerful Tesco.
