Do you think that the proposed new road would solve current or future congestion in the the town? No I don't! Why don't they take it up the side of the field and join up with Church Road. That wouldn't solve all the problems but it would be better than cutting the town in half. You can't get to the green areas without crossing the road At the moment it seems more of a feeder road for Tesco - everybody has to go past it. They said that it would ease the congestion at peak times, but the amount of cars will be the same, there will just be shorter queues in different areas. How come there are so many new crossings across the High Street - cars will take ages to go through the High Street - mind you perhaps not a bad thing!

Too right! It's just sneaky way of dragging you past their store whilst you are stuck in the morning traffic (or the evening traffic).
And - you'd have to cross the road to get to the playing field, so there will be even more congestion 'cos they'll have to put another crossing in to stop kids just running across the road to the playing fields.

There will always be the same number of cars trying to get through the town centre. There will still be a mass exodus from the Industrial Estate every day. And where is the footpath that goes behind the fire station, is this going to be another one that will be conveniently diverted! or forgotten about.

As for the High Street, so many crossings, why, coose there will not be many shops left if Tescos get a big store as they will be selling all those things the High Street shops do, but cheaper.
And dont forget that when the by pass is closed due to accicents, ie twice so far this year, all the HGVs and other large vehicles will still have to come along the old A22. That could be interesting.
And are these plans the reason why ESCC have not bothered to sort the High Street out as they are well involved in this.

When questioned SJI hadn't considered the traffic from Bell Lane. It was "up there" - off the plan and therefore not to be considered

No I don't agree with the proposals, to propose a two way traffic system that passes a recreation area is a recipe for many accidents. The scheme has created a bottle neck for entry and exit to the proposed exrended car park, which incidentally looks to be less parking spaces than present.

Where do all the little service roads disappear to? Like, how would the van deliver to Currys, or the funeral directors get to their vehicles? And where would the shops like the electrical shop and fludes park their vehicles?

Although lip service is paid to "Improved operation of the Framfield Lane junction" (their name error) the Uckfield Councils prefered plan of building a flyover from the Framfield Road junction to Bell Lane is not included in this proposal. This would involve the closure of the High Street to all but essential traffic and Busses. Diverting all this traffic through a pedestrianised town square is absurd. Through traffic can always use the bypass. More roads = More cars.

The plan does not take into account the possiblity of the rail link being re opened.
I would build a road from Bridge Farm Road over the railway line to join bell lane in the area of halfords or tesco roundabout.
A number of houses may need to be knocked down but for the good of the town it would provide a second link across the river and over the railway track.

That would put another road into an already busy junction at framfils road junction.
Using Bridge Farm road would keep the petrol station and business space (frills all round)....

That would require the creation of a junction at Farriers way and another Junction at Bridge Farm Road.

It would only be a small junction just like the ones along Framfield road. For example Harcourt Road/Framfield road. These are minor roads joining major link roads.
